Horrible Histories

On this day :

1564

Monday 23

Stratford, England. Britain’s greatest playwright, William Shakespeare, is born on this day. He grows up to write comedies and tragedies. But the greatest tragedy is that he also dies on this day in 1616! Imagine that! He probably never even got to open his prezzies.

villain of the week

Tizoc: Aztec emperor, d.1486

Emperor Tizoc decided to terrify all the other tribes in Mexico with a huge massacre. He took every single man from three Mixtec tribes, 20,000 men, and sent them for sacrifice. It terrified the other tribes in Mexico all right but it also disgusted them. They learned to hate the Aztecs. They knew they would have to wait, but one day their chance would come to overthrow the vicious heart-ripping people. And it did.
